Much like Ready Player One, this book also uses a possible worst case scenario for human kind. It gives us a view into a dystopian future of unemployment. So if you are looking on Goodreads books like Ready Player One, let me show you one of the best ones out there that you have probably not heard of before.
So it just makes sense that LitRPG as a fictional gaming genre would also become popular. Video games is a multi billion dollars industry raking in about $200 billion a year. Is its own niche within other genres (mainly fantasy and scifi) and many kindle readers love it.
Although this is not one of my favorite genres (unless is combined with epic fantasy), Ready Player One has made LitRPG very popular. The funny thing about Ready Player One is that the book was written in August of 2011 and it did not really became super popular until 2017 when the live action movie was announced (which is not as good as the book).Įver since then there has been a rise in books similar to Ready Player One or as the community calls it, LitRPG also referred to as GameLit. Its sequel Ready Player Two might not live up to the first installment but hey, many readers still like it such as myself.
Ready Player One has taken the reading world by storm.
